Stepping Up

After much cursing and a set of aching knees later I have finally taken my stairs from this

The top picture is the closest to what the actual color is like. I chose BM's Waterbury Green color matched at Home Depot. The treads are painted just a standard white trim color. I didn't want to try anything too fancy at first but I'm loving the pop of color when you walk up the stairs. The best part is that you can't tell they are a different color until you come up. The view from the top just looks like this

A huge improvement if you ask me! We will see what the clean up is like with the white treads but so far sweeping seems to do the trick nicely (I sealed them with a semi-gloss poly to protect the paint from wear). Of course now it is making me want to paint more trim but that will have to be another day, I've got walls to demo after all!
Cheers!

  1. I love it! What a great way to add some color. I've been trying to talk my husband into letting me paint the risers of our steps white. I'm definitely showing him your post!
